The Pike Township Trustees gathered in regular session on May 4, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Todd Miller where the reading of minutes and the presentation of receipts and expenditures led the start of the meeting.
Fiscal Officer Dennis Savage and trustees John Ehrsam and Jack Wagner were in attendance at the meeting.
A discussion of old business led off the meeting where an Ohio Department of Transportation grant for the use of sign replacement was confirmed, cemetery footers were replaced and a property complaint was addressed.
New business consisted of an annexation of a property. A township property owner, who owns property that sits adjacent to the village of Delta, has asked to have his property annexed into the village.
The request was a formality as the township has no authority in the annexation but would continue to collect property taxes from the owner.
A fire department grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation was offered to Pike Township for use, but the deadline to respond had passed.
The township will revisit the grant for next year and proposes to gift the money between the fire departments of neighboring York and Royalton townships since Pike does not have a fire department.
Trustees approved GT Contracting to work on the sealing of roadways in Pike Township and purchased 100 tons of rock salt for next year.
The Memorial Day ceremony is ready to go. A speaker for the event has been confirmed, and the engraving of names of fallen veterans on the memorial monument is set to be completed by the time of the ceremony.
Committee reports were on the docket before a motion to adjourn the meeting by Ehrsam with Miller seconding the motion.
The next township meeting is scheduled for June 1, 2026.
