Cyndi Jewell has been with Williams County Public Library since 2000. She started at the Edgerton branch and came to Edon in 2004 as the branch manager.
An achievement she is most proud of is working with the community and Friends group to build a permanent location for the library.
The biggest challenge was the shift of how the library could best serve the community as digital materials became readily available. They had to shift focus to remain relevant.
The WCPL system as a whole met that goal by providing programs and services for patrons to learn new skills such as how to use emerging technology.
In addition they created spaces to come together for book clubs, educational activities and fun events.
The biggest challenge was probably COVID and how to maintain a safe environment that would allow them to provide much needed materials and services to the library patrons.
She said she will really miss seeing all the patrons every day, many who have become friends, she feels good about her next chapter. She is looking forward to learning, traveling and generally working on her “bucket list.”
Cyndi mentioned the library has a great new incoming Branch Manager everyone will love. She has amazing programming ideas and enjoys meeting everyone. Cyndi looks forward to seeing the new branch managers vision of making the library even better!
The Williams County Public Library will hold a “Retirement Reception”, in honor of Edon Branch Manager, Cyndi Jewell.
The reception will take place at the Edon Branch Library, located at 105 S Michigan St, Edon, OH 43518, and will be held on Friday, January 31st from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
The public is welcome to attend, and the event is open to all ages. Cupcakes, refreshments, and other food goodies will be served. Come celebrate the 24 years of service Cyndi has dedicated to the library, and the Edon community.
