Richard D. Nofziger, age 91 years, of Wauseon, passed away early Friday morning, September 20, 2024 at Fulton Manor in Wauseon.
He was born February 24, 1933, in Wauseon. He was the son of Lloyd and Ilva (Beck) Nofziger.
He was marred to Rosetta Schrock for 24 years, he then married Genevive Beaverson on September 24, 1983 and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2018.
As a young man he helped his father on the family farm then went to work at Sauder Woodworking as a foreman at Forecraft for over 30 years.
In retirement he enjoyed taking trips in his RV around the United States as well as going to Burger King for his weekly coffee with friends.
He was a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed listening, watching and singing along to the Bill Gaither Band. He was a part of Christ’s Church in Wauseon for many years.
He is survived by his children, Randall of Pierce AZ, Russell (Hannah) of Wilcox, AZ; Rowena (Bill) Downing of Wauseon and Rachelle (Fred) Ziegler of Delta; 14 grandchildren; Heather, Jesse, Kate, Jeffrey, Andrew, Jasmin, Zackery, Melissa, Andrew, Angela, Alicia, Kylie, Miranda, and Dayle; many great and great-great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister; Ron (Marlene) Nofziger of Archbold, Dorwin (Ilene) Nofziger of Wauseon, Jerry (Shari) Nofziger of Goshen, IN and Cheryl (George) Karagiorge of Columbus, and a sister-in-law, Marcile Nofziger of Archbold.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; brother, Merrill Nofziger; and great-grandson, Isaac Andrew Downing.
Visitation for will be held Monday, September 23 from 5-8 pm at Short Funeral Home in Archbold. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 24 at 11 am at Christ’s Church, 410 N. Shoop Ave. Wauseon, with Pastor Marshall Harbour officiating. The burial will precede the service at 10 am at Pettisville Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorials be given to the Ike and Ella Fund or Christ’s Church.
