VARSITY TENNIS
Wauseon 4, MVCD 1
The Indians took the match with just one set back coming in First Singles where Maddy Wendt was defeated 6-0, 6-1. Serra Rupp evened the match with her win at Second Singles with scores of 6-4, 7-5. The Third Singles match was a forfeit. In doubles action the Wauseon duo of Paige Moden and Liv Ladd won in First Doubles (no scoring reported) as did Second Doubles partners Samantha Martin and Kaitlyn Sager 6-2, 6-0.
VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
The Blackbirds remained perfect in the BBC with a record of 7-0 (and 9-2 overall) as the defeated Fayette with scores of 25-18, 25-16, 25-14. Pettisville’s leaders included: Kyra Behnfeldt- 10/11 Serving w/ 1 Ace, 18 Digs; Teagan Kauffman- 6/9 serving with 2 Aces, 18/22 Hitting w/8 Kills; Morgan Leppelmeier- 12/13 Serving w/2 Aces, 23/25 Hitting w/13 Kills; Jess Youse- 8/8 Serving, 25/28 Hitting w/10 Kills; Carly Bontrager- 12/12 Serving, 87/89 Setting w/32 Assists; Harper Nolander- 2/2 Serving and 6 digs; Morgan Sauder- 7/8 Serving w/1 Ace; Ezzie Hernandez- 6/7 Serving w/1 Ace. Fayette was led by: Bailee Smith 6/6 serving; 4 kills; 7 digs; Kelsey Fruchey 2 aces; 10 kills; 7 digs; McKenzee Schaffner 9/9 serving; 11 digs; 6 assists;
Kaitlin Brubaker 7/7 serving; 10 digs; 11assists; Rhys Ruger 2 aces.
Edon varsity defeated hilltop scores were: 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 15-4. The Bombers improved to 7-5 overall and 5-2 with the BBC win. Hannah Kaylor and Shaylee Manahan led Edon with 16 and 12 kills respectively. Netta Halonen and Sarah Lemmon provided Edon with six service aces apiece. Halonen also had three kills and 10 digs. The Cadets were led by Ariana Brown at the net as she finished with nine kills on 28/32 hitting. Johnnie Roth was 19/20 serving with two aces. Marisa Yates contributed with six kills on 15/18 hitting while Roth added five kills also on 15/16 hitting.
JUNIOR VARSITY VOLLEYBALL
The Pettisville Blackbirds downed Fayette in three games with scores of 25-9, 23-25 and 25-7. Pettisville improved to 7-4 overall and 5-2 in the BBC. The Blackbirds were led by: Mauricea Crouch – 38/38 setting, 4 assists and Danielle King- 19/19 serving with 4 aces.
Edon defeated Hilltop with scores of: 25-20, 25-14. The Bombers improved to 9-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in BBC play.
FRESHMEN VOLLEYBALL
The Pettisville Blackbirds fell to Edgerton in three set with scores of: 25-23, 31-33, 19-25. (No individual game stats were received).
JUNIOR HIGH VOLLEYBALL
North Central was a 25-13, 25-8 winner in a 7th grade match against Edgerton. In the 8th grade match Edgerton was able to win in two sets with scores of 25-17, 25-17.
BOYS VARSITY SOCCER
Napoleon 2, Bryan 1
The Golden Bears recored went to 6-1-3 and 2-0-1 in league play with the non-league loss. Bleus Creek scored the goal for the Golden Bears, unassisted.
Swanton 5, Delta 2
The Panthers scored the first goal of this NWOAL battle 15 minutes in the contest. Delta’s Jared Gilders was the scorer on an assist from Logan Albring. Both teams kept make multiple advances until Trevor Schaller scored a goal for Swanton 23 minutes into the game. Delta responded with another goal of their own when Anthony Russell scored with an assist by Jared Gilders just six minutes later. Both teams finished out the half strong and a score of Delta 2 and Swanton 1. Delta held of many Swanton advances in the first few minutes of the second half but Swanton’s Trevor Schaller scored 13 minutes into the half. He then went on to put a third one in for Swanton seven minutes later. Seven minutes after that, Josh Adcock scored Swanton’s fourth goal and then went on to score their fifth at the 70-minute mark to conclude the scoring and earn the win.
BOYS JUNIOR VARSITY SOCCER
Bryan JV defeated Napoleon JV by the score 1-0. Joey Kimble scored the goal for Bryan, assisted by Trysten Dilworth.
