WAUSEON: February 1, 2014 – The Wauseon Indians kicked off the home stretch of high school hoops on February 1 with the Blue Devils of Springfield invading Tribe Town.
Wauseon came out with all guns blazing, taking a four point advantage into the second period, and expanding the lead to five going into intermission. All looked good on the home front.
Then came the second half.
Springfield came out of the locker room and had their shooting shoes laced up. Lady Momentum joined them on the sidelines, and the Indians’ advantage quickly went by the boards. By the time that the third period came to an end, Wauseon had gone from five up to eleven down, a deficit they were never able to account for in what became a 55-47 loss.
Corry Byers went off for 14 to lead the Tribe, and Jacob Newlove added 13. Kris Boysel dropped in 10 points, with Noah Castle firing off 7 points and Alec Lillich 3.
