Nicki Bassett spoke to the Stryker Rotary as a guest of Mel Pace. Nicki is the new manager of the Green Awning in Stryker. Randy and Joni Rosebrock purchased the business recently and Nicki is managing the store as well as the floral shop inside. The store specializes in offering merchandise from estate sales and auctions along with a full service floral shop. She said her experience in Stryker has been positive, and was complementary of the local children who have visited the shop. The store hours are Tuesday thru Friday from nine to six, and Saturday nine to one. Nicki on the left is pictured with Stryker Rotary Member Mel Pace.

Nancy Jaggers and Elaine Graber met with the Stryker Rotarians and told them of the services provided by the Stryker Community Food Pantry. The Pantry was started in 1982 when the local churches got together to assist three families in the Stryker community who had fires in their homes. Each of the area churches helped out at that time and all still have a representative on the food pantry board. The pantry is housed in First Lutheran Church and is well supported by the community and churches. The pantry board has elected to send food out of the area during large natural disasters but for the most part the pantry serves the people of the Stryker area. The pantry only takes donations from the community and does not get assistance from any other source. The pantry also takes donations of money and uses those funds to assist local people. The board has a standing rule requiring that a minimum of two board members must approve giving out funds.
