Stryker Village Council heard an update from Village Administrator Alan Riegsecker in regards of the village’s newly purchased 2026 Ford F350 dump truck at its council meeting Monday night.

Riegsecker told council members the cab and chassis for the new truck are already in Stryker but is waiting for the dump truck bed added on by Kalida Truck Equipment for delivery sometime in August.

The new dump truck, which costs $71,000, will replace the 2002 Chevy one-ton truck which is now going to be up for sealed bids and advertised.

He also reported the village has done crack sealing on Curtis and Horton Streets but still has to do patching on some certain areas.

Riegsecker noted a resident had called his office last week and the maintenance department went out and cleaned the ditch along the railroad behind the house. The resident thanked him for doing it.

Stryker Police Chief Steven Mendez who was on planned family vacation gave a written report to council.

Mendez pointed out the month of July has remained relatively quiet from a law enforcement standpoint.

Also in the report, he had written that due to a catalytic converter failure, the 2021 Ford Explorer will be out of service.

The department is waiting for the dealership to get the parts. Mendez wrote that most of the expenses will be covered under the manufacturing warranty.

In financial news, Fiscal Officer Beth Rediger reported that finances for the month of July had totaled $136,000 in revenue, but $143,000 in expenditures.

Rediger added that monthly local government money and Williams County license tax revenue hadn’t been totaled in the July report. Both monies were distributed on July 21.

For the year, she said that there are $843,090 in revenue and $797,331.33 in expenditure, thus the village has a difference $45,758.68.

“We’re good,” said Rediger in terms of the village’s financial surplus. “But we are going to starting the new water tower project next year.”

“I tried to get it to start this year, because we got two grants and we have to wait until next year. We can bid it early next year.” Council then approved the financial report.

Rediger requested to schedule a finance committee meeting prior to the regular meeting on August 18. Committee members from council are Dave Benner, Dusty Potter and Vicki Cameron.

Riegsecker and Rediger will be attending the upcoming WEDCO (Williams County Economic Development Corporation meeting on July 23.

Discussion will focus on Residential Tax Increment Financing (TIF)m and how the village can leverage it to support residential development.

Council members were reminded of the upcoming free household hazardous waste recycling event sponsored by the Williams County Health Department and ERG Environmental Services on August 19 at the Williams County Fairgrounds.

Council members in attendance were Potter, Benner, Sean Ingram and Stan Whitlock while Vicki Cameron and Nick Wlasiuk were both absent as was Mayor Joey Beck.
