Members of the Stryker Varsity Volleyball team, along with Head Coach Beth Weyer, participated in the “I Am the Cure” event for the “Race for the Cure” in Toledo on Sunday, September 29. The Lady Panthers positioned themselves on the corner of Erie and Market Streets in downtown Toledo and provided support for over 16,000 runners, walkers, family members, and survivors of breast cancer.
Coach Weyer stated “the girls and I decided to participate in this wonderful event because all of us personally know of someone who is currently battling cancer, or has battled cancer in the past. The girls decided to create a tunnel where we were standing, and have the runners come through as we cheered them on. It was amazing to see the burst of energy and the smiles on all of the participants faces as they ran through our tunnel. The experience was amazing, and it something we plan on being a part of in the future.”
Members of the team who participated in the event were Conner Varner, Connor Sullivan, Christie Huston, Tasha Pegorch, Maddie Uribes, Katie Yoder, Audra Rupp, and Brittany Breier.
