SWANTON BOARD OF EDUCATION: Board Gets Update On Recreational Sports Programs

The Swanton Board of Education held their meeting on Wednesday, March 16th at 6:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.

Hearing of the public followed next with the board then moving to approve the agenda as presented. Minutes for the previous meeting that took place on February 15th were also approved.

The board then moved to hear a report on finances and investments from the treasurer. Numerous donations made to the school were also accepted as a part of this reports as well as appropriation modifications, estimated resource changes, and the return of an advance.

The reports and recommendations from the Superintendent followed next with the first item of discussion being a strategic priority update.

For this month’s update, Rec Sports Director Jared Walker was invited to give an update on the rec program. An eighth-grade field trip to Washington D.C. was discussed next along with the need for students to have access to medications while on the trip.

Approval was then given for the Swanton High School 2022 graduation pending completion of requirements for graduation.

The school calendar for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year was approved as well as numerous personnel items.

Reports from building administration members were then given to board members before moving to enter into executive session.

With no other items to attend to the board moved to adjourn the meeting for the evening.
