The Village of Swanton held its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7th. The festivities began at 9:00 a.m. with a craft show at Swanton High School that continued until 3:00 p.m.
The parade began at 10:30 a.m., led by the Swanton American Legion Post 479. Various floats and local businesses participated, along with the marching bands from Swanton High School and Delta High School.
The parade started at the Swanton Sports Center, proceeded downtown on Main Street, and concluded on Dodge Street. Santa made a grand entrance at the end of the parade, joyfully shouting, “Ho, Ho, Ho! Merry Christmas!”
At the high school, students had opportunities to create projects, participate in a photo booth, engage in letter writing, meet Happy the Clown, and visit with Santa. Concessions were also available to help support the Swanton Choir Boosters.
There were festivities held on Friday as well at Pilliod Park. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. families were able to enjoy the story walk around the park, hot cocoa served by the fire department, and sing with the Swanton Choir. Food trucks were also available, and the tree lighting ceremony took place at 6:30 p.m.
