Tommy D. Whitman, age 78, of Bryan, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
Tom was an active member of Life Changing Church in Edgerton and their Monday Morning Men’s group.
He was a truck driver and retired as an owner/operator. Tom was a car guy.
He enjoyed buying, restoring, showing and selling street rods and older cars. He and his wife enjoyed spending many years wintering in Florida.
Tommy D. Whitman was born October 20, 1944 in , the son of Ernest H. and Esther J. (Robinett) Whitman.
He was a 1962 graduate of Edgerton High School and graduated from Stautzenberger College with a degree in Accounting.
He married Mary E. Ayers on April 3, 1965 in Bryan and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2022.
Tom is survived by two sons, Jeffery (Lisa) Whitman, of Bryan, and Christopher (Jenny) Whitman, of Hicksville, Ohio; one daughter, Shelley (Curt) Lyons, of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren; Caitlin (Zack) Whitman, of Bryan, Joshua (Beth) Retcher, of Toledo, Haley (Brandon) Osborn, of Waterville, Ohio, Jacob Whitman, of Toledo, Alexis (Danny) Turk, of DuPont, Washington, Rachel (Nate) Wakefield, of Statesboro, Georgia, and Mikaela Penn, of Toledo; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Keith (Kathy) Whitman, of Astor, Florida, Gary (Lorraine) Whitman, of Edgerton, David (Linda) Whitman, of West Unity and James (Pamela) Whitman, of Edon; a sister, Linda (Greg) Gelhausen, of Somerset, Kentucky and sisters-in-law, Martha Hartman and Patricia (Norm) Balbontin, both of Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary, nephews, Kurt Whitman and David Lovejoy and brothers-in-law, Larry Hartman and Lee Ayers.
Funeral services were held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton with Pastor Rick Stiver officiating. Burial followed at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton.
