Phyllis Ann Miller, age 90 formerly of Pettisville passed away peacefully on February 25th at Fairlawn Haven. Phyllis was born in Rockport, Indiana to Florence and Clyde Allen Sr.

She graduated from Rockport High School in 1950. After high school she worked at General Electric until she married Dencel.

The day after their wedding they moved to Bowling Green, Kentucky for her husband to attend school.

Phyllis had several jobs including a bus driver for Pettisville schools for 9 years, cleaning houses and an assistant at Dick and Dee’s Photography Studio in Pettisville.

Phyllis was known for her exceptional cooking. Nothing compared to her pork chops, homemade noodles and infamous pistachio cake.

She loved entertaining and was great at creating wonderful family meals. Phyllis loved Christmas and made unforgettable family memories.

Phyllis was also known for her art of sewing. As a gift to one of the teacher’s daughters she made the bridesmaid dresses and flower girls dresses for their wedding. Her specialty was baby blankets.

Everytime a new baby was born to the family or friends, she would create a blanket for the newborn. She also was the “patching expert” for the Archbold football team for years.

Phyllis always said she was fortunate to have raised her family in Pettisville where they had great neighbors and people felt safe and loved.

She helped organize many neighbor gatherings. She became especially close to the Craig Salisbury family who now live in Cedarville, Ohio.

She was very blessed to have loved and shared their lives with the loving Salisburys.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, daughters Judy Beck (Craig) in California and Karen Walker (David) in Archbold, and a daughter and family in Wisconsin. She is very proud of all her grandchildren- Kyle and Sarah Walker (Cleveland), Collin and Emily Walker (Bryan) and Corbin and Jocelyn Walker (Bryan). She was well loved by her great-grandchildren Alexandra, Evelyn, Josephine and Ryan Walker. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews in Indiana, Kentucky and Florida.

Phyllis was a very active member at Pettisville Missionary Church while residing in Pettisville but is currently a member of St. John’s Christian Church in Archbold.

She was also a member the garden club and organized many events including the first Easter Egg Hunt in Pettisville. Phyllis also served on the Fulton County Board of Elections for 28 years.

Per her requested, a private service with a celebration of life will follow in a few months. Short’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
