Although they were able to keep within striking distance for most of the contest, the Edon Bombers were unable to overtake the Pettisville Blackbirds, and would end up being defeated Thursday night 44-31
Although the Bombers never lead after the end of any quarter, they were able to keep it close. After one quarter of action, the Blackbirds only held an 11-4 lead over Edon. That lead expanded to 12 points at halftime, 26-14.
The difference in the matchup was the free throw differential between the two teams. Pettisville made 18 of the 27 free throws they took for a free throw shooting percentage of 66%, compared to the nine of 17 free throws Edon made on the night for 52%.
This helped lead the Blackbirds to a 33-22 third quarter, and eventually a 44-31 victory.
Thiel lead the way for the Bombers with 12 points, followed by Brown with five, Wickers, Peeples, and Wolkowski all with four a piece, and Bloir had two.
