The Wauseon Board of Education accepted the resignation of Troy Armstrong the Wauseon Primary School’s principal effective August 24 at their regularly scheduled board meeting August 10.
Armstrong served 10 years as Wauseon Primary School principal. He accepted a position as assistant superintendent with Springfield Local Schools in Holland, Ohio.
The Board also accepted the following resignations: Tina Jones (WEVS curriculum director), Sheryl Bechill (Wauseon Middle School Teacher Aide), Ronna Rice (Wauseon High School cook), Jeff Mazurowski (Wauseon Middle School intervention specialist) and Tracy Behrman (orchestra director).
In other personnel-related business the board offered Walter Jordan a one-year limited contract as Wauseon High School intervention specialist and a one-year limited certificated athletic supplemental contract to Joy Hutchinson as the head girls’ tennis coach.
In other business the board approved/accepted:
•A donation from the Tomahawk Wrestling Club of strength training equipment valued at $1,572 to the WHS Athletic Department be used at the Athletic building.
•The Authorization of a “then and now” certificate for Fullerton for Software Renewal ($2,778), BGSU Theater Dept for WPS Assembly ($125) and Electro-Mech for Diagnostic Repair ($107)
•One-year limited certificated non-athletic supplemental contracts to these teachers as Mentors for the 2015-16 school year: Tammy Ankney, Lynelle Nofziger, April Beck, Lori Puehler, Mark Britsch, Amy Warncke, Mindy Cheney, Betsy Wenger, Jennifer Grime, Julie Wilhelm Brad Myers and Amber Wonderly.
•The following individuals as Title 1 Substitute Teachers for the 2015-16 school year via the Title 1 grant: Salli Ackerman, Hope Hodges, Mary Lewis and Janet Wyse.
•The following teachers as van drivers for the 2015-16 school year: Joe Allen, Katie Black and Kevin Kreiner.
•Brett Parker as a part-time seasonal student employee, retroactive to July 24, 2015
•Ratified the tentative memorandum of understanding between the Wauseon Education Association and the Wauseon Exempted Village Board of Education for a 2.75% base increase, effective September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2016. The terms and parameters of this agreement are to also apply to all classified employees and administrators.
•The FY16 classified and administrative salary schedules to reflect a 2.75% base increase.
•A request for an overnight trip for FFA Greenhand Camp from September 27 – 29.
•The 2015-2016 Bus Routes and authorized the Superintendent or designee to make changes in bus stops as needed
•Rick Stidham as the appointed delegate to the Ohio School Boards Capital Conference and Miriam Frank as alternate.
•The 2015-2016 agreement between the Wauseon Exempted Village Schools and the Wood County Juvenile Detention/Residential Center of Northwest Ohio for ALC
•Viewed a presentation regarding WEVS School Guidance Counselor duties presented by Jessica Gerig, WPS/WES Guidance, Chris Roberts, WMS Guidance and Laura Vorwerk, WHS Guidance
The board then entered into Executive Session for the discussion of the employment of personnel. No action taken.
The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2015, 5:30 p.m. at the Board of Education office.
