Blue skies and sunshine led to a parking lot that overflowed along the road and a capacity crowd during a Wauseon Chamber of Commerce after hours event at Knotty Vines Winery on Thursday.

“These kinds of events are good for us because it gets people in here who maybe haven’t been here,” Julie Nofziger said.

“A few people said that today, ‘This is my first time.’ So that’s always nice when they bring extra people in who haven’t seen us before.”

Nofziger and her husband Steve, who co-own the business, planted the vineyard in 2008 and opened their tasting room in 2012. She said they like events like the chambers, and that they had three more in the next week.

Nofziger was pleased with the seasonal increase in business saying, “it’s that time of year,” but added that while winters are slower, the winery is on track for the year and “it gives us time to try and do some new things, make some more plans.”

The chamber after hours event included a basket raffle with items donated by the Fulton County Visitors Bureau, F&M Bank, The Copper Penny Salon, and Ten Thousand Villages.

Guests on the patio were entertained by singer/guitarist Ryan Rolf. Upcoming music at the winery includes Chris Crickett on May 11 and Cayden “Shorty” Thiel on May 18.

The chamber holds its Business After Hours events once each quarter, including an Oktoberfest event in the fall.
