October 20th, 2014): Taking on the Golden Bears of Bryan, the Wauseon Freshmen Team had no trouble dismantling their opponent on both sides of the ball.
Scoring 42 points in the game, the Indian offense was humming throughout. Hunter Yackee led the scoring frenzy, rushing and passing for a touchdown each. Lincoln Schmucker was on the receiving end of that scoring strike. Everett Bueter and Mac Warnke each added a touchdown on the ground as well. Bueter also successfully rushed for a two-point conversion, while Yackee made a connection with Junior Martinez for another.
It was the Wauseon defense that stole the show, however. Allowing just 12 points on the night, the Indian defenders outscored the Bryan offense. Everett Bueter continued his phenomenal game, returning an interception for a touchdown, an act mimicked by teammate Tony Schweinehagen. Combined with a safety claimed by the Indian defense, the unit scored 14 points by itself.
Wauseon defenders also showed no mercy to the Golden Bear quarterbacks. Cam Sauber, Colton Blanton, Austin Schuette, and Junior Martinez all recorded sacks in the game.
The victory brings Wauseon to 6-2 on the season.
