The Wauseon School District is proud to report improvements in the performance of our Wauseon High School students on the American College Testing college readiness assessment. Over ninety students took the ACT and those that took the test in 2015 scored, on average, higher in each subtest in addition to the overall composite score. Wauseon students also performed higher than the state average in all testing areas in 2015.
ACT, Inc. says that the ACT assessment measures high school students’ general educational development and their capability to complete college level work with the multiple choice tests covering four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. The optional Writing Test measures skill in planning and writing a short essay. Specifically, ACT states that its scores provide an indicator of college readiness, and that scores in each of the sub-tests correspond to skills in entry level college courses in English, algebra, social science, humanities, and biology. We encourage many of our students to take the ACT to prepare for 2 year and 4 year postsecondary experiences and those considering acceptance into trade schools and undergraduate degree programs.
Congratulations to our recent ACT test takers and the Wauseon Exempted Village Schools Staff for their improvements.
