WAUSEON – The Wauseon Lady Indians hosted Montpelier on Friday, December 14. Montpelier jumped out to an early lead by the end of the first quarter, 8-5, but the Lady Indians exploded in the second quarter, scoring 14 points and going into halftime up 19-16. After the break, it was all Wauseon as the Lady Indians increased their lead in both of the remaining quarters on their way to a 45-34 victory over the visiting Locos.
One major difference was the turnover discrepancy. Wauseon committed only 12 turnovers during the course of the game while Montpelier had more than twice that number (27).
Alyssa Reed and Annette Stidham did a lot of the scoring for the Tribe, posting 18 and 10 points respectively. Reed scored 10 from within the arc, dropped in one 3-pointer, and scored 5 points from the line while Stidham dominated the lane, scoring all of her points there.
Lauren Dye, of Montpelier, had a tremendous outing however, putting up 20 points to lead all scorers in the contest.
