WAUSEON – Wauseon senior Elijah Felzer recently signed a letter of intent to further his education and continue his track career at West Liberty University in West Liberty, West Virginia.
Felzer, who will major Exercise Physiology before going to graduate school to become a physical therapist, said he felt right at home in West Liberty.
“The team is a family environment. The location is in the hills of West Virginia in the middle of nowhere”, said Felzer, who will run the 400-meter dash in college.
“I really enjoyed the peacefulness. I went on two different visits where I was able to stay in the dorms with the other track athletes. They treated me like one of their own.”
“I had a few other schools in mind that were willing to give me scholarship and some I was close to going to”, elaborated Felzer when commenting on the recruiting process.
“Coach Falvo (West Liberty Head Coach) reached out to me first. Then all of the other school’s coaches started reaching out.”
“I went on many visits including some overnights. I then decided to go with West Liberty University. It was a really quick recruiting process because I knew what I wanted.”
During his high school career, Felzer’s accomplishments include: track – 9-11th grade letter winner, NWOAL – 2nd team, NWOAL – Honorable mention (2), district-honorable mention, regional qualifier, honor classes throughout high school, and honor roll student.
