The congregation at the West Unity Church of Christ have been seeing some changes the last few weeks, and so have the lives of Tom and Coleeta Cash.

Until recently, Tom and Coleeta found themselves in the same place the last 13 years -Sault Sainte Marie, otherwise known as “the Soo,” up in Northern Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, right by the Canadian border.

That is, until three weeks ago, when Tom -originally from Youngstown, Ohio- moved just north of Archbold to serve as the new minister at the West Unity Church of Christ.

Excited to see such a committed and lively flock, Minister Cash got right to work, and has been kept pretty busy between preparing for service and driving their worldly possessions from the Soo to Archbold.

While Mr. Cash is the new minister at West Unity, he is far from novice. Having been practicing for nearly 48 years, he is also a third-generation minister -with his father and his father’s father having had the same profession.

Coleeta and Tom are the parents of two children, Amanda and Joshua, who live in Alaska and Indiana, respectively.

Tom is “looking forward to serving the Lord where He would plant” him, and they are enthused to get involved in the local community.

Mr. Cash noted how thrilled he was to see that the congregation offers activities throughout the month, including youth programs, music nights, and seasonal activities.

Shared as well was Mr. Cash’s involvement in moderating two Facebook groups: Yooper Pastor and Yooper Pasty, which everyone is invited to check out.

Mr. Cash informs all that they “are really excited to be a part of this congregation. There are a lot of good things going on, the service is uplifting, and everyone is welcome to attend Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.”
