John L. Marquis, Jr., 78 years, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan.  John was born October 11, 1940 in Athens, Ohio, the son of the late John L. and Mae (Rose) Marquis, Sr.

He was a 1958 graduate of Bryan High School.  John was a Veteran of the United States Army.  John worked for Kamco as a Shipping Manager.  He was also the Station Attendant for Amtrak for many years.  John attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan.

He was also a member of the National Train Association and the Bryan Eagles Aerie 2233.  John enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, photography and taking care of the Amtrak Station.  He was known in the area as “Mr. Amtrak”

Surviving is his daughter, Sarah Marquis of Bryan; four grandchildren, Skyler, Holden, Hunter and Destiny; two great-grandchildren, Lillian and Madilynn.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services for John L. Marquis, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan with Rev. Peter Paige officiating.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.  Private interment will take place in Fountain Grove Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to the family C/O: Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, to assist with costs.
