Woods, Arthur - picture - WEBArthur H. Woods, age 90, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his grandson’s home in Delta.

He was born in Steubenville, OH on July 9, 1923 to the late Arthur H. Woods Sr. and Anna (Mills) Woods. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S Navy.

Prior to attending college, he worked as a pipe fitter for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #490 in Steubenville; where he was a past business manager and lifelong member. Arthur graduated from the College of Steubenville on May 28, 1967 with a Bachelors of Art Degree. Arthur joined the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in 1967 and practiced in Toledo before being reassigned as deputy regional director of the Northwest Region in Seattle, WA in 1975.

After retirement he moved to Georgia, where he was a member of the Kiwanis International and served as a past president. Arthur also was very active with Habitat for Humanity and with his passion for politics he served as representative to the Silver Haired Legislature in Atlanta. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #45 F&AM for over 25 years, loved gardening and landscaping and a master gardener receiving his certification from the extension service of the University of Georgia. Arthur enjoyed golfing, telling stories, his family and traveling; especially out West to Las Vegas.


Arthur was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Faulise in 1990 and he later married Daisy Vein, who passed away in 2004. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Aleta Poston, Nancy Wolf and Leonard Woods.

He is survived by his children; Nina (Gary Edwards) Bruno of Holland, OH, John (Janie Mayle) Woods of Bloomingdale, OH, Robert (Karen) Woods of Hope Valley, RI and David (Michelle) Woods of Ashaway, RI; sister, Anna Mae Walkup; grandchildren, Tom (Chris), Robert (Nora) and Amy Bruno, Matthew, Sarah and Zachary Woods and Taylor and Travis Woods; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
