Mildred “Mid” Bigler (1921-2019)

Mildred McKarns “Mid” Bigler, 98 years old, passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Sunrise North Assisted Living, Naperville, Illinois. Mid was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of William Roy and Anna Sparling McKarns.

She married Lawrence E “Gene” Bigler in December 1941. Gene passed away in 2007. Mildred was valedictorian of her Bryan High School class of 1939, and then graduated from Fort Wayne Business College. Mid liked to help. She helped with Cub Scouts, at church and with teaching English to adults.

Mildred and her husband Gene traveled to Hawaii, Florida, Canada and Europe. She played the piano and liked classical music. Mid was loved by many.

Surviving are her son, Jim, and Jim’s wife, Theresa, of Woodridge, Illinois; son, Larry of Santa Monica, California; brother, William McKarns of Bryan, Ohio; grandchildren, Genny and James; great-grandchildren, Jack, 5, Josh, 2, Georgia, 2; and 10 nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation.
