Eleanor Bexten (1936-2020)

Eleanor M. Bexten, 84, of Pioneer passed away Sunday at Hillside Country Living in rural Bryan. She was born on February 22, 1936 in Pioneer to Layton M. and Blanch Elma (Hillard) Eidenier.

Eleanor graduated from Pioneer High School in 1954. On September 10, 1983 she married Anthony Bexten and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2011.

Eleanor was a member of Pioneer Nazarene Church. In 2001 she retired from Bryan Custom Plastics after 32 years. Eleanor enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by three daughters, Sheila (Dan) Green of Baraboo, Wisconsin, Holly J. Pettit of Montpelier and Sonda (Mark) Wiles of West Unity; one son Sam (Tina) Pettit of Pioneer; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren with one more due in September; six step children, Sherry (Steve) Sims of Ney, Teresa (Terry) Burnham of West Unity, Alan (Brenda) Bexten of Pioneer, Diane (John) Willis of Montpelier, Mike (Angie) Bexten of Apex, North Carolina and Jamie (Stephanie) Bexten of Bryan; sixteen step grandchildren, twenty step great grandchildren; sister Evelyn Deetz of Pioneer; sister-in-law Donna Eidenier of Pioneer; and brother-in-law Dana Smith of Pioneer.


Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband Anthony, one son Steven Pettit, step grandsons Travis Burnham and Zachary Bexten, and brother Ernest Eidenier, sister Eloise Smith, and brother-in-law Bob Deetz.

Eleanor will be laid to rest at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer, Pastor Gene McBride will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillside Country Living Activity Department or  Grace Hospice of Maumee.
