Phyllis Mohler (1931-2020)

Phyllis J. Mohler, age 88, of Delta, peacefully passed away Thursday night, July 23, 2020 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance. She was born on August 9, 1931 to the late Clarence Ohlinger and Lelia (Mizer) Ohlinger.

Phyllis attended Delta High School and married the love of her life, Glenn “Big Moe” Mohler on October 3, 1948 and were blessed with four children, Linda (Roger) Moden of Delta, Sandy (Dennis) Smith of Delta, Gary (Tracee) Mohler of Columbus and Bruce (Mary) Mohler of Delta.

Phyllis and her husband Glenn owned and operated Big Moe’s Twist-T-Freez in Delta from 1971-1980. She enjoyed serving with the youth by babysitting, Church Sunday School at United Brethren, Baby Land at the Church of Christ and being a youth fellowship advisor.

She also enjoyed helping out with little league baseball and serving concessions during the games. Phyllis was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, along with supporting her Detroit Tigers and local little league, pony league and church league baseball teams. She was very proud of her close knit and God serving family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Glenn on August 16, 2016; three brothers and five sisters.


Along with her loving children, she is survived by grandchildren, Jeremy Moden, Joel (Becky) Moden, Justin (Ashley) Moden, Charity (Shaston) Adair, Jordan, Alex, Alyssa Mohler, Andrea (Andrew) Hesson, and Austin Mohler; great grandchildren, Madison, Carter, Benson, Parker, Kaelub, Xavier, Kaela, Cash, Abram, Addie.

Friends will be received from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta with a public graveside service celebrating Phyllis’ life being held at 1:30 PM on Monday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, those attending are to follow CDC guidelines by wearing a facial mask and observe six foot distancing when possible. Pastor Rex Stump will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6817 St RT 66N, Defiance, Ohio 43512 or Hands of Grace, 104 Monroe St., Suite 2, Delta, Ohio 43515 in her memory.

    Sad to learn late notice of Aunt Phyllis Mohler (1931-2020) death. Have many fond memories of this lovely lady.Special memory was when she took me as a child to the carnival in downtown Delta. Had so much fun.
    She is now with the love of her life and my great Uncle “Moe”.
