James E. Coleman, age 82, of Edon, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020, of natural causes, doing what he loved to do, cutting wood in his woods. Jim was a graduate of Perrysburg High School, a longtime hog farmer and member of the Williams County Pork Producers.

He also was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon, had served on the Board of Edon Farmers Co-op and the FSA Board, and was a big supporter of the Edon FFA. Jim was an avid fan of Michigan State and the Edon Bombers. He never knew a stranger and traveled extensively in the States and abroad, mainly by train.

James E. Coleman was born on October 24, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Don and Lucille (Kennell) Coleman.  He married his wife of sixty-years, Carol A. Huard, on September 24, 1960, in Edon, and she survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Tammy Fritch, of Edon, Dawn (Jeff) Bowling, of Edon, and Ann (Brad) Graham, of Arcadia, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Austin (Carissa) Fritch, Abby (Elliott) Ward, Adrian (Chelsea) Fritch, Kelsie (Bryan) Davis, Isaac and Griffin (Abbey) Bowling, and Jimmy and Katyann Graham; nine great-grandchildren, Addyson, Aiden, Janie and Junie Fritch, Eden, Claire, Fraley and Reagan Ward, and Iyla Davis; and one sister, Judy (Bill) Daniels, of Delaware, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will be welcoming family and friends at grave side services to be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Edgerton, with Jean Wise officiating.

Due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions, the family will receive friends while observing social distancing precautions and the wearing masks is encouraged to prevent spreading of the virus. Anyone showing any symptoms of illness are asked to please share their condolences by a phone call, email, text message, or leaving a condolence at the funeral home website.

Memorials are requested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Edon FFA. Krill Funeral Service, 204 Indiana Street, Edon, has been entrusted with arrangements.
