BOYS BASKETBALL

Swanton 46 Evergreen 44 (OT)

METAMORA – The Bulldogs battled back from an eight-point deficit in the first half and then survived as an Evergreen shot was off the mark at the buzzer in overtime to earn a 46-44 victory.

Nic Borojevich drilled five 3-pointers on his to a 21-point night for Swanton (9-1, 1-0 NWOAL), who had six makes from beyond the arc as a team.


Three Vikings (3-6, 0-1 NWOAL) were in double figures led by 17 from Evan Lumbrezer, RJ Shunck had 13, and Eli Keifer added 10.

FRESHMAN: Evergreen, 23-12

Liberty Center 49 Delta 31

DELTA – Aiden Hammontree had 22 points to lead all scorers as the Tigers (4-4, 1-0 NWOAL) opened NWOAL play with a win at Delta. Nolan Risner tallied 13 for Delta, (3-4, 0-1 NWOAL), who dug themselves an early hole by falling behind 17-4 after one quarter and 33-9 at halftime.

HAMLER – Freshman Lincoln Creager had 13 points and Will Seedorf added 12 to get the Patriots (8-2, 1-0 NWOAL) their first regular season win over Archbold since the 2006-07 season. Cade Brenner fronted the Bluestreaks (5-4, 0-1 NWOAL) with five two-pointers and one from long distance for 13.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Holgate 42 Pettisville 29

HOLGATE – A 14-4 third quarter was the key as Holgate remained undefeated in the BBC with a 42-29 win over Pettisville. Holgate (6-7, 2-0 BBC) dominated the boards where they owned a 35-19 advantage and forced 18 turnovers by the Blackbirds (2-11, 0-2 BBC) while committing just 10 of their own.

Carissa Meyer led a balanced attack by the Tigers with 10 points and Pettisville’s Ellie Griser had a game-high 18.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Pettisville, 24-19

Stryker 60 Fayette 21

STRYKER – Stryker improved to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the BBC after winning handily over Fayette (0-12, 0-2 BBC) 60-21. No stats were reported.

Montpelier 45 Edon 31

MONTPELIER – The Locos led 16-12 at halftime and then used a 29-19 advantage in the second half to pull away for the win. Ariel Page netted 15 points to lead Montpelier (10-2, 2-0 BBC) and Trinity Richmire had 11. The Edon (2-11, 0-2 BBC) scoring was paced by Kerrin Towers with 10.

Paulding 58 Edgerton 41

EDGERTON – Paulding (3-7, 1-1 GMC) grabbed a 13-7 lead after one quarter and then put together a 30-19 second half to put Edgerton (1-11, 0-2 GMC) away in a GMC contest. Dominique Fort topped two Bulldogs in double digits with 14 points and Taylor Smith added 10.
