Paulette F. Potts, 65, of West Unity, OH, died early Wednesday morning, October 24, 2012, at her home, following a battle with cancer. She was born on October 4, 1947, in Wauseon, OH, to the late Paul and Frances (Carpenter) Zuver. Paulette married Terry Potts on December 31, 1975, in Pioneer, OH, and he survives.

Paulette graduated from Hilltop High School Class of 1965, and furthered her studies by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Defiance College, and a Masters in Writing from Bowling Green State University. She spent her entire career as a teacher, teaching at Hilltop High School for 32 years, and Northwest State Community College for six years. In more recent years, she enjoyed writing for the Village Reporter as a weekly columnist.

Paulette actively served as a member in many organizations, including the NOEA, West Unity Library Board, Executive Board of Retired Teachers of Williams County, West Unity Teachers Association, and she was an elder at her church, the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples. She liked to read and was a talented writer, and also found enjoyment in camping and scrapbooking. Paulette is remembered by her family as a wonderful grandmother whose greatest pleasure was spoiling her grandchildren.

Surviving Paulette in addition to her husband, Terry, are three daughters, Amanda (Doug) Melton of Gallup, NM, Susan (Todd) Elliott of Seward, AK, and Jessica Potts (Jeff Beck) of Archbold, OH; two sisters, Rosie Campbell of Bowling Green, OH, and Carol (Cole) Richards of Bullhead City, AZ; and three grandchildren, Emily Elliott, Hayden Elliott, and Samantha Elliott.

A funeral service for Paulette will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Fayette Christian Church-Disciples with Rev. Gene Sugg officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday afternoon, from 2-8 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home-Barrett Chapel in Fayette.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial contributions in honor of Paulette to the West Unity Library.
