The Blakeslee Village Council meeting of July 24 began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by roll call. Four council members, Rosemary Thiel, Eric Jenkins, Robert Mohre and Cody Reynolds, were in attendance.

In the first order of business, council approved of the minutes from the June 26 meeting.

In the fiscal report, Fiscal Officer Beth Rediger reported the revenue since the last meeting was $3,800, with expenses at $2,700.

Also, Rediger stated that she will have appropriations for the next meeting. Because of last month’s surprise village roof repair, she wants to increase the general fund budget.

Mayor Linda Muehlfeld said that she is pursuing a purchase of a new fly mower for the village hills. She stated that the hills are too steep to try to mow with a regular mower.

Muehlfeld spoke with Dennis Miller of Maumee Valley about the possibility of grant money for the project and also talked with ODOT. For now, ODOT is looking to temporarily provide a robotic mower to the village.

In other business, it was announced that Courtney Osborn, a possible replacement for Rediger, will be attending the next council meeting, scheduled for August 14.

Next, council member Jenkins stated that there seems to be an increase in speeding traffic within the village. Other council members said that the presence of the police cruiser or the sheriff’s vehicle, seems to help.

Council then voted to adjourn the meeting.
