James “Jim” Brigle (1947-2023)

James “Jim” A. Brigle, 75, of Edon passed away Sunday, March 5th at his home, surrounded by his family and close friends.

He was born on March 24, 1947 in Edon to Kenneth L. and Marjorie W. (Schooley) Brigle.

Jim graduated from Edon High School in 1965 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea.

On March 30, 1968 he married  Patricia A. Siebenaler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee.


In 2014, Jim retired from the Village of Edon, as the Street Department Supervisor, after 30 years of service.

He was a life-long Florence Township Farmer, he also raised pigs at his home.  He recently helped his grandchildren with FFA, growing sweet corn and pumpkins.

Jim also retired from the Florence Township Fire Department.  Jim was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Blakeslee, a Blakeslee Knights of Columbus, Edon American Legion Post and the Montpelier Moose.  He was an avid Edon Bomber and Ohio State Buckeye fan.


He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat; daughters Jamie (Jeff) Schaffter of Edon and Jacque (Joe) Schaffter, Claire Radabaugh and Max Radabaugh; siblings Connie Mac (Sandy) Brigle of Pioneer, John (Mary) Brigle of Edon, Bill (Connie Sue) Brigle of Edon, Tom Brigle of Edon, Susie (Tim) Moore of Edon and Cindy Brigle of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronn Brigle and sister-in-law Chris Brigle.

A time to receive friends will be on Friday, March 10th from 12-2pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Blakeslee. A scripture service will follow at 2pm at the church with Father Daniel Borgelt and Father Fred Duschl to officiate. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Blakeslee with military honors provided by the Edon American Legion. A celebration gathering will take place from 5-8pm at the Florence Township Fire Hall, 09479 State Route 49, Edon, Ohio. The family requests casual attire.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Edon Athletic Boosters, Edon FFA Alumni or Florence Township Fire Department.
