Rodney G. Merritt, 56, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away at 9:22 A.M. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance, Ohio, after an illness of six months.
He was a graduate of Paulding High School in Paulding, Ohio, and earned his CDL to become a truck driver.
He was an over the road long haul trucker for many years, working for several companies. Rodney enjoyed old movies, especially westerns, and cooking. He also had an online hobby store that he operated with his son, Daniel.
Rodney G. Merritt was born on January 1, 1967, in Paulding, the son of James W. and Marjorie J. (Fuller) Merritt.
He married Susan M. Connor on November 9, 1989, in Adrian, Michigan, and she survives.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Mike, Tim, Becky, and Tina, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel, in 2020; and his beloved dog, Zoe.
A celebration of Rodney’s life will take place from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton. Interment will be private in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton.
Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
