Charles W. Apt, 79 of Bryan, Ohio passed away after an extended illness on September 2, 2023 with his children by his side.
He was a patient at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. Charles was born on July 28, 1944 in Montpelier, Ohio to LJ and Ila Mae (Winzeler) Apt. He attended Montpelier Schools and graduated in 1963.
Charles was employed at Aro Corporation in Bryan, retiring in 2010 after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Bryan and the Montpelier Moose.
Charles had a passion for sports and coached Rotary Little League for seven years. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football program, as well as the Cleveland Indians baseball team.
He enjoyed his retirement and loved to travel with long-time companion Carol Radican. He enjoyed meeting with old friends and pals from his school days for coffee. Charles enjoyed sharing stories from his past and talking about sports with anyone willing to listen.
He is survived by his two sons Brian Apt of Columbus, Ohio and Bradley Apt of Montpelier. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, longtime partner Carol Radican, brothers Donald and Richard Apt and his sister Shirley Brandeberry.
A memorial service for Charles will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 12 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier with Reverend Ric Dye to officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier. Visitation hours are prior to the service from 10-12pm.
