Sally Priest (1929-2024)

Sally L. Priest, 94, a lifelong resident of Montpelier, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Evergreen Healthcare in Montpelier.

She was born on July 29, 1929 in Montpelier to Herschell Raphael and Alphretta May (Brannan) McMillen. Sally graduated from Montpelier High School.

Sally retired from the Ohio Turnpike, where she worked as a toll worker. Sally also worked as a librarian at the Montpelier Library. She very much enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was known as a “master bridge player”.


Sally also enjoyed golfing and bowling in her free time. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Montpelier.

Sally is survived by her two children, Craig (Susan) Priest of Littleton, CO and Michael (Lisa) Priest of Shelby, OH; granddaughter, Cherolyn Chambers; one great granddaughter; nephew, Scott Dayhoff; great niece, Jacque Dayhoff; numerous cousins, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Guy T. Priest, Jr.; and sister, Jacque Dayhoff.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 1-4 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 10:00 am the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Doseck to officiate. Interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Montpelier. Sally’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Evergreen Healthcare in Montpelier, for the wonderful care they gave to Sally during her time there.
