Michael F. Hicks, age 62, of Wauseon, passed away on August 1, 2024, at the University of Toledo Medical Campus Hospital.
Michael worked for Toledo Express Airport as a lighting technician for 27 years, and also owned and operated Fulton County Locksmith.
Michael was born on April 6, 1962, in Toledo, to the late Francis James “Frank” Hicks and Dorothy Houser. He graduated from Springfield High School in Holland, Ohio, where he met the love of his life, Betsy (Wood). They married on July 23, 1982, and spent 42 wonderful years together.
Michael was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #265. He was an avid racer, enjoyed tractor pulling, and liked to travel and spend time on the beach. His greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving Michael is his wife of 42 years, Betsy; daughter, Trisha (Dalton) Hageman of Bryan; son, Joseph Hicks of Wauseon; daughter, Payton Hicks of Arkansas; son, Nicholas Hicks of Wauseon; and eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Tim (Sufi) Hicks of Arizona; sister, Sue (John) Vallance of Holland, Ohio; nephew, Jamie (Lena) Hicks of Dayton; sister-in-law, Carol Hicks of Bowling Green; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Patrick Hicks; brother, Christopher Hicks; and two infant brothers.
A celebration of Michael’s life will take place on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Wauseon American Legion, from 2pm to 6pm. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home of Wauseon is honored to serve the Hicks family.
