Carolyn Uhlik (1937 – 2024)

Carolyn Mae Uhlik, age 87, of Wauseon, passed away Saturday morning, October 19, 2024 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Delta, Ohio on July 13, 1937 to Clare A. Johnston and Kathryn (Bernath) Johnston.

In 1956, she married Ladislaus “Laddie” Kovar and from this unity they were blessed with six children, Daniel, Carol, Terry, Steve, Linda and Ann.


He preceded her in death on February 18, 2017. Carolyn married Richard S. Uhlik on July 27, 1995 and shared 15 loving years together until his passing on March 6, 2011.

After graduating from Fulton High School in 1954, she served 25 years with ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services) in Wauseon and later as a clerk with Village Tax Service in Lyons, OH, before retiring.

Carolyn attended St. Caspar Catholic Church in Wauseon and was a member of several groups, including the Elks Lodge, Delta Eagles and the Czech Dancers; where she enjoyed polka dancing with her husband Richard.


Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel (Sally) Kovar, Carol (Roger) Dulaney, Terry (Jean) Kovar, Steve Kovar, Linda (Johnny) Hernandez and Ann Youngen; stepchildren, Stephen and Richard Uhlik; brother, Max (Connie) Johnston; sister, Joyce Plassman; sister-in-law, Patricia Isaak; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, John Youngen and grandson, Mitchel Dulaney.

Friends and family may visit from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Barnes Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta, Ohio 43515. A memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s life will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. Caspar Catholic Church, 1205 N. Shoop Ave, Wauseon, Ohio 43567 with Fr. Todd Dominique officiating. Interment will take place prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 AM on Wednesday at Dutch Ridge Cemetery near Delta.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Rd, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 or the Filling Homes, N160 St Rt 108, Napoleon, Ohio 43545 in her memory.
