On Monday, the 18th Archbold Village Council met for its second regular meeting of November with Aaron Babcock, Vaughn Bentz, Karla Ball, Kevin Eicher, Chad Kern, and Gary Dominique in attendance.
Mayor Brad Grime and Village Administrator Aaron Alt were on hand to represent the village’s administrative team.
Getting right down to business, the council gave the OK for payment of $557,977.36 in bills and payroll and also approved the November 4 meeting minutes.
On its third reading, the council approved Ordinance 2024-48 which provides for a 10% water rate increase, and Ordinance 2024-49 which calls for a 3% wastewater rate increase for residential customers. Both rate changes will occur on the January 1st, 2025, Billing/December 2024 Consumption Period.
Also approved upon its third and final reading was Ordinance 2024-50 to repeal and replace Ordinance Number 2019-46 “Establishing Monthly Residential Refuse Service Fees.” The legislation phases out the village’s current refuse subsidy by 2027.
Moving on to new legislation, council heard Resolution 2024-54 which authorizes the administrator to enter into a contract of sale of real estate with Marty and Cindy Rupp of Pine View Apartments of Archbold, LLC, for a split parcel of property located at Woodland Park. The parcel, measuring just under an acre, is situated adjacent to another property owned by Pine View.
Alt added, “The nice thing is, not only will we get a couple dollars for this, we’ll also get 20 housing – homes in the community once they’re said and done…It’s definitely a plus for the community.”
Following a declaration of emergency, the council approved the real estate transaction.
Council then passed Resolution 2024-55 authorizing the administrator to enter into a sanitary sewer service agreement with Fulton County for the Elmira – Burlington Service Area.
The agreement would cover 75-77 properties that are tied into the village sanitary sewer system.
Before wrapping up, the council adopted Ordinance 2024-56 amending appropriation Ordinance 2023-64.
Alt clarified that the annual housekeeping measure does not involve appropriating new funds. Instead, it permits departments to reallocate existing funds within their budgets to address negative balances.
Archbold Village Council will hold its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, December 2 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers.
