Ronald “RJ” Rosene (1939 – 2024)

Ronald Jay “RJ” Rosene, age 85, of Swanton, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Mercy Health – St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Ronald was a 20 year U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War, he retired in 1977.

After his service he worked as a foreman for the former Textileather Company in Toledo for 24 years, retiring in 2001.

Ronald was born in Crissey, Ohio on January 30, 1939, the son of Elwood and Margaret (Sherman) Rosene. On April 16, 1966 he married Sandra Breitner, and she survives. He attended the Trinity Lutheran in Delta.


He graduated from Holland High School in 1957 and Chaminade College in 1976. He was a member of the Liberty Center VFW Post 6596 where had served as treasurer for many years.

He was also a volunteer fireman and EMT for Springfield Township #2 for 15 years. While in the service he had been stationed at Naples, Italy, The Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Yokosuka, Japan, on the U.S.S. Oriskany in Alameda, California and Wahiawa, Hawaii.

In his free time he enjoyed running. He ran six miles a day, six days a week and enjoyed running in 10K’s and a Full Marathon. He ran in the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon in Toledo, Ohio for many years.


Surviving is his wife, Sandra; children, Mark (Rhonda), Shannon and Toni; grandchildren, Courtnie, Trever and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Caiden, Lilianna, Carter, Bryson, Carson, Londyn, Braelynn, and Mia. He is also survived by his brother, Michael (Joyce) cousin, Sharon (John); and extended family members and friends.

Visitation for RJ will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Delta. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M., also at the church, with Pastor Matthew Voyer, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the St. John’s Cemetery on Fulton County Road 4.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Disabled American Veterans. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.deltafh.com.


Grisier-Weigel Funeral Home in Delta has been entrusted with arrangements.
