Gertrude Downing, age 90, of Wauseon passed away early Tuesday September 15, 2015 at the Fulton County Health Center. Prior to her retirement she had worked for Perfection Finishers in Wauseon for 53 years.
Mrs. Downing was born on June 24, 1925 in Memphis, TN the daughter of the late George and the late Louella (Zilkey) Rathbun. She married Donzell Downing and he preceded her in death. She was a member of Christ Church in Wauseon.
Surviving are her six children; Donald (Carolyn) Downing of Delta, Sharon McGlamery of Wauseon, Lousie Hamilton of Wauseon, Robert (Rosine) Downing Morenci, MI, Mary Ann Renner of Adrian, MI and William (Rowena) Downing of Wauseon. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and sister Carol Keefer of Morenci, MI. Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents was son; Charles, five brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday September 18, 2015 at Christ Church in Wauseon with Pastor Mike Harbour officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyons Cemetery. Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon on Thursday from 2:00-8:00pm.
