Steve Kaposy, age 88, formerly a longtime resident of Swanton, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2015 at Whitehouse Country Manor. He was born in the country of Hungry on February 21, 1927 before coming to the United States with his parents, Anthony Kaposy Sr. and Elizabeth (Toth) Kaposy and settling in Avella, Pennsylvania.
Steve was one of eight children, including, George, Anthony Jr., Louis, Joseph, Rose, Elizabeth and Julia. Steve was a U.S Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He married Geneva McCauley and she preceded him in death in 1974. Steve worked as a forklift operator for over 22 years with Campbell Soup before retiring.
In addition to his wife and parents, Steve was preceded in death by his stepchildren, Helen Martino, Anna Lipscomb, Johnny Poling and Georgia Poling.
He is survived by his son, Rob Kaposy of Swanton; stepchildren, Lula McNeil, Garris (Eva) Poling, Scotty Poling and Lefa Smith.
Friends and family will be received from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.; with a funeral service honoring Steve’s life being held at 2:00 PM. Pastor Jeff Davis will be officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery with military rites provided by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
