On Tuesday, June 23, the Northwest Township Trustees convened for their regularly scheduled meeting.
After being called to order at 7:00 p.m., the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. All trustees were present and included Paul Green, Mary Gniewkowski, and Robert Kissinger as well as Fiscal Officer Peggy Disbro and roadman Eddie Mountz.
After review, Gniewkowski moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting with a second from Kissinger. Kissinger then moved to approve the financial report with Gniewkowski seconding. Both motions were passed.
Kissinger inquired about the Brusher, which was reported to be having issues at the last meeting. Mountz stated he would like to venture out to review his diagnosis after the meeting. Green and Kissinger agreed.
The trustees then turned their attention to the rental calendar, ensuring there was availability to unlock and lock the building on the requested days.
Gniewkowski then addressed an issue that will be discussed at the next meeting when resident Jeff Bunker will attend.
Gniewkowski provided pictures to trustees of a tree in question at 164 Lakeshore Drive that is a nuisance to Bunker.
Gniewkowski stated she has done research with both the recorder and auditor which had different information. Green added that he was informed that Bunker wanted the easement closed.
Green summarized by stating that in his opinion the nuisance tree was the property owner’s responsibility not the township, and that he does not believe the easement can be closed. Further discussion will be done at the next meeting.
Moving the meeting along, Disbro had a few items to discuss. First was four cemetery deeds for the trustees to sign.
Second was a resolution to accept the amount and rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the county auditor.
This is an annual resolution Disbro explained, “Basically what it is it’s just restating our inside mills are 2.9 and our outside mills are 3.5.” Green made the motion to pass the resolution and Kissinger seconded. The resolution passed.
Disbro was happy to report clean audit results with no issues, providing copies to the trustees.
She noted that this was not the final copy for public record as it still has to be stamped with approval in Columbus.
The trustees then turned their attention to the upcoming chip and seal, finalizing the cost and location.
The final cost would be approximately $64,600 with the elimination of around one mile on County Road O.50 from County Road 3 to State Route 49. Green moved to approve and Kissinger seconded. The motion passed.
Green then moved to adjourn with a second from Gniewkowski. The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m. with the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 p.m.
