From inflatables to a spectacular fireworks display, the annual Day in the Park was held on Saturday, June 27 at Recreation Park.
The event, sponsored by the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce, featured a full day of nonstop fun, flavor and excitement for everyone.
New this year was a tethered balloon ride sponsored by North Western Electric Cooperative and Northwest Ohio Propane.
A tethered ride is when the balloon lifts off the ground, hovers 20 to 50 feet above the ground for several minutes, but doesn’t launch or fly away.
Though the tethered balloon ride was canceled in the morning, it was able to take place later in the afternoon.
Children got the opportunity to take advantage of several inflatables, including a water slide and bounce houses.
Besides the inflatables, there was lots of food available ranging from corn dogs to freshly squeezed lemonade, with numerous food trucks taking part in the daylong activities.
The Bryan High School cheerleaders also took part this year, putting on glow-in-the-dark tattoos for the youngsters.
There was plenty of activity at the Fountain City Amphitheater as well. It began with a Zumba fitness session early in the morning, followed by Storytime, which was presented by the United Way of Williams County.
In the afternoon, the Circus Science Spectacular took place on the amphitheater stage.
The innovative and entertaining educational offering uses the magical world of circus to teach concepts like forces and motion, simple machines, matter, air power, chemical reactions and more.
It originated through a unique partnership with professional educators Steve Russell and Kobi Shaw, who worked side by side with teachers in classroom settings, incorporating circus arts in the teaching of core curriculum concepts. All of the content is researched, tried and true, supporting actual concepts of science.
In addition to teaching science concepts, they were also trained by Ringling Brothers Circus and performed skills in comedy, juggling and magic in the show.
Other entertainment on the amphitheater stage included a Renegade Classic Rock Tribute, exclusively sponsored by Spangler Candy Company.
The Day in the Park ended with a spectacular fireworks display, which took place at Recreation Park.
