Gladys M. Anthony

Gladys M. Anthony, 94 years, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at The Inns and Villas at Fountain Park. Gladys was born January 24, 1922 in Bryan, Ohio, the daughter of Carl C. and Goldie (Warner) Jones. She married Chester G. Anthony on April 9, 1938 in Auburn, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2009.

A devoted homemaker, wife and mother, Gladys helped her husband Chester working on the family farm. She also helped operate the family grocery store in Seneca, Michigan. She formerly worked at several area factories. Gladys had a passion for reading, sewing, bird watching, crocheting and baking. She also found great joy in spending time with her family.

Surviving are her three daughters, Delores (Andy Mytczynskyj) Anthony of Bryan, Joyce MacBeth of Riga, Michigan and Janet (Tom) Morris of Angola, Indiana; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Jones of Defiance; one sister, Ellen Marie Gustwiller of New Bavaria, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; two brothers, Raymond Jones and Roger Jones and her son-in-law, Tom MacBeth.

Visitation for Gladys M. Anthony will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home – Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan, where memorial services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Franks officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Williams County Public Library, Fountain Park Patient Activity Fund or the Bryan Senior Center.
