Leah Waneta (Schwab) Peart, age 97 of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018.  She was born August 15, 1920, in Wauseon, the daughter of John and Anna (Baus) Schwab, and was a 1938 graduate of Wauseon High School.  Leah worked as a bookkeeper in Washington DC, where she met her future husband, Waldo R. “Werp” Peart.  They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wauseon, on May 15, 1948, and raised their family in Maple Heights, OH, and Apollo, PA.  Upon retirement in 1986, Leah and Waldo moved back to Wauseon, which in her heart was always her true home.

Throughout her life, Leah was an active member of the various Lutheran churches she attended.  Her roles included president and member of many Lutheran Women Circles, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, church treasurer, and altar guild chair and member.  Leah was also a Girl Scout leader and Meals on Wheels volunteer.  In her later years, Leah particularly enjoyed writing notes to her many friends and family and researching her Volga German Heritage.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Myra L. Prokop; son-in-law, Bruce Prokop; sisters Marie Vollmer, Pauline Frazier, Hulda Schwab, Virginia Henry Wyse, and Betty Lucas; Brothers, John Schwab (Infant) and Floyd Schwab.

Leah is survived by her daughters, Waneta Peart of Yardley, PA and Nancy Elizabeth (David) Peart-Markt of Melrose, MA; grandson, Brad (Shannon) Prokop of Marblehead, OH; granddaughter Leah Markt and grandson Cameron Markt, both of Melrose, MA; and brother, Richard (Sallyann) Schwab of San Antonio, TX.  She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Funeral services for Leah will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon, with Reverend Roger Marlow officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bayes Cemetery.  Visitation will also be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, April 20, 2018.  Memorial contributions in Leah’s memory may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Ottawa County Holiday Bureau.  Online condolences to the family may be offered at www.grisierfh.com.  The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon is entrusted with arrangements.
