Adelbert P. Hill, age 89, of Swanton, Ohio, was peacefully called by our Lord Jesus Christ to be reunited with his soul-mate Shirley, Saturday morning, August 24, 2024.
Adelbert was born March 2, 1935 in Addison, Michigan to Claude, Sr. and Lueida (Cole) Hill. Adelbert attended Swanton Schools and received a varsity letter and certificate in 1951 for football.
Adelbert retired from Bil- Jax in Archbold, where he was an accomplished welder and held his journeyman’s card. He loved woodworking, gardening and praising and worshiping his Lord at Antioch Apostolic Church in Toledo.
Adelbert had his eye on a girl from Delta, and married the love of his life, Shirley Osterhout, on June 5, 1954. They shared 60 wonderful years together. Shirley preceded him in death on August 30, 2014.
Adelbert and Shirley raised three girls, Joylanda (Jim) Fleming of Casper, WY, Tamyra (Larry) Knepper of Napoleon, OH, and Cynthia “Cindy” Hill of Toledo, OH; then came along their special girl, Joan (Jadzinski) Hillski of Toledo, OH; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law, June Osterhout and Charlotte Osterhout; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his beloved wife, Shirley, Adelbert was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
Family and friends may visit Thursday, August 29th from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Funeral services celebrating Delbert’s life will be held Friday, August 30th at 11:00 am in the funeral home, with Pastor Derrick Torrey officiating. Interment will follow at Swanton Cemetery.
