Annabelle Ruth Rupp, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, service and love.
Annabelle was born on Oct. 12, 1931, to Malinda and Serenus Schrock. She attended Bailey School, a one-room schoolhouse, through the eighth grade and achieved a GED in 1986. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Midland Mennonite Church in Michigan.
In 1948, at the age of 17, Annabelle moved to Ohio. On Oct. 14, 1951, she married Leroy Rupp. Together they built a life centered on their faith and family.
Annabelle was a charter member of Tedrow Mennonite Church from 1949 until her passing. Her faith was an important part of her life. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and Sunday School secretary.
She also served as church janitor with her husband for several years when their children were young, helped in the church kitchen and sewed comforter tops for Mennonite Central Committee.
Annabelle was well known for her cooking skills. Throughout the years, she worked as a cook at Ev’s Place, Die Alt Scheier Restaurant, Sauder Village Barn Restaurant and Café, Residence Hall, and Detwiler Manor.
She also volunteered with Care and Share and Wyse Commons. Even through her later years, she continued to serve her family and church family through her love of cooking.
Prayer was an important part of Annabelle’s daily life, and she faithfully prayed for her family and church family. She also enjoyed reading and putting together puzzles. There was almost always a puzzle in progress in her living room.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Serenus and Malinda; her siblings, Gladys Nofziger, Ilva Stuckey, Verda Rupp, Don Schrock and Mary Lou Rogoff; brothers-in-law Wayne Nofziger, Maurice Stuckey, and Hal Rogoff; her beloved husband, Leroy Rupp; and one great-grandchild, Miranda Rice.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Schrock; four children, Wesley Rupp (Kathy), Darlene Rufenacht (Richard), Keith Rupp, and Judy York; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Annabelle will be remembered for her strong faith, her love for her family, her willingness to serve others and the many ways she cared for those around her. Her legacy of faith and service will continue through the generations she loved so dearly.
Visitation will be at Tedrow Mennonite Church on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the church on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, at 11 a.m.
