Daniel “Dan” Leary, 69, of Pioneer and formerly of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away on Wednesday November 11, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on January 13, 1946 in Danbury, Connecticut to Lawrence G. and Helen A. (Mei) Leary.
Dan graduated from Ridgefield High School in Connecticut. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. On December 31, 2001 he married Sharon K. (Kromm) Landel in Ridgefield, CT and she survives. Dan enjoyed NASCAR and also to travel and take vacations. He was a member of the Montpelier Moose.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon Landel-Leary of Pioneer; three step children, Tamera Ryman of Montpelier, Ohio, Robert Kissinger and Kimberly (Tim) Hickman, both of Edon, Ohio; eight step grandchildren; four step great grandsons; three sisters, Inez (Robert) Barrett of Carolina Shores, North Carolina, Carol Leary of Fort Meyers Beach, Florida and Roberta (Guy) Montanari of Danbury, Connecticut; and one brother, Lawrence “Larry” (Christian) Leary of Bluffton, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine Conklin.
A private graveside service will take place for Dan at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer, Ohio.
