(Attended Haven Heights Baptist Church)

Donna (Obenour) Barhite, age 83, of Wauseon, passed away August 22nd, 2024, at CHP Inpatient Hospice, with her loving family by her side.

Born in Adrian, Michigan on November 8, 1940 to Thelma (Slone) and Rolland Obenour, she was the oldest of five children.

Donna spent her childhood in both Michigan and California and often helped her mom care for her younger siblings while her dad was off at war.

Donna graduated from Sand Creek High School and eventually attended college at the Chicago Institute of Art.

Donna married Jim Barhite January 31st, 1970, and he survives. Together, they have three children: Troy (Rebecca) Barhite, Stacie (Brian) Armstrong and Scott Barhite; six grandchildren, Christian (Sarah) Barhite, Alicia Barhite, Spencer Barhite, Wyatt Armstrong, Dakota Armstrong, Walker Armstrong, and their first great-grandchild, Rachel. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death.

Donna dedicated her life to raising her three children, teaching them to know the Lord, caring for the home and supporting her family and friends in every way that she could.

Along with raising a family, Donna was an accomplished artist. She was proficient in all mediums and painted numerous portraits, landscapes, China, Christmas ornaments, bookmarks and more.

A student of the late artist Walter Chapman, her favorite and most challenging medium was pastel portraits.

Her clients found that along with physical likeness, she had a special skill and talent of capturing the character and essence of the person in her portraits.

Over the years she participated in many art shows and displayed art at various local businesses and the Wauseon Library. She regularly entered her artwork into the Fulton County Fair and won numerous ribbons and a Best of Show.

Donna attended Haven Heights Baptist Church and had a deep faith and love for Jesus. She had a heart for people and desired to help them in whatever manner she could.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Haven Heights Baptist Church Youth Trips Fund or CHP Inpatient Hospice.

Visitation for Donna will take place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Haven Heights Baptist Church in Wauseon, from 10am to 12pm. A memorial service will follow visitation at 12pm, with Pastor Lance Wyse officiating. Burial will be private at the St. Caspar Catholic Cemetery.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. The Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home of Wauseon is honored to serve the Barhite family.

The obituary for Donna was lovingly prepared by her family.
