Dorothy Shugrue

Dorothy Shugrue, 90 years, of Defiance, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, with her family at her side. Dorothy was born May 20, 1926 in Iving, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James and Ocie (Cole) Marshall. She married John Shugrue and he preceded her in death. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother, who devoted herself to the care of her family. She also helped by babysitting, and also assisted several families by helping keep their homes clean and in good order. She attended the Bethel Pentecostal Church in Hillsdale, Michigan. She enjoyed dressing her family in their best clothing and taking them downtown. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers and going shopping. She was most devoted to spending time with her family.

Surviving are her four children, Joseph Keys, David Conley of Lansing, Michigan, Janet Lane of Defiance and Carol Arnold of Toledo; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two sisters, Donna Miller of Litchfield, Michigan and Omie Marshall of Hillsdale, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Michael Doremus and Christian Schultz and Jeffery Schultz; four daughters, Arnetta Marshall, Judith Conley, Catherine Conley and Sharon Wise; three brothers, Arthur Marshall, Warren Marshall, Lee Marshall; five sisters, Roxie Marshall, Lana Marshall, Theda Marshall, Iona Marshall and a baby sister who died in infancy.

There will not be any calling hours and the service will be private for the family. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial donations be given to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, 6817 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
