Ronald David Figgins, 76, of Alvordton, OH, died Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Toledo Hospital, following a short illness. He was born March 28, 1940, in Alvordton, to the late DeVillo and Juanita (Severence) Figgins. He married Deborah S. Wheeler on June 21, 1986, at the Alvordton United Brethren Church, and she survives.
Ron attended the former Alvordton High School and was a lifelong resident of Alvordton. He worked for 44 years as a fork-lift operator at TRW in Fayette, proudly never missing a day of work, until his retirement in 2003. He also served his community as a 44-year member of the Alvordton Fire Department. Ron is remembered by his family as a man who enjoyed traveling and camping, and Ohio State football.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Deb, are his children, Ray (Marsha) Figgins of Richlands, NC, Laura (Tony) Gomez of Wauseon, OH, Gregory Figgins of Alvordton, and Angel (Louie) Alvarez of Leland, NC; three brothers, Ralph (Jan) Figgins of Fayette, Robert (Carolyn) Figgins of Bryan, and Larry Figgins of Alvordton; three sisters, Janet Borton of Alvordton, Phylis (Ronald) Hesselschwardt of Defiance, OH, and Karen Draper of Jackson, MI; nine grandchildren, Brook, Tiffany, Alex, Elliott, Amanda, Tara, Nickolas, Angela, and Eli; and eleven great-grandchildren and one on-the-way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold “Pete” and Ed Figgins.
