Dortha A. Stoner (1930 – 2015)

Dortha Stoner 001 WEBDortha Ann Stoner, 84 years, of West Unity, passed away Monday January 26, 2015, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, with her family by her side.

Dortha was born June 15, 1930 in Knox County, Ohio, to the late Leland and Ruth (Robbins) Pinkerton. She was a 1948 graduate of Findlay High School and continued her education at Flower Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1951 as a Registered Nurse. Dortha married Jack B. Stoner on December 10, 1950 in Findlay, Ohio, and he survives. Dortha enjoyed working as a nurse and considered it to be her hobby. She had worked at several area hospitals, including, Wauseon Hospital, Montpelier Hospital, and the Bryan Hospital. She worked at Hillside Country Living and Evergreen Manor Nursing Home as well as a private care nurse. She also worked for Drs. Hahn, Shepherd, Dilworth and Rivera. She was a Lamaze instructor in both Bryan and Montpelier for many years. Dortha was a member of the West Unity Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed camping and traveling in her free time.

Surviving is her husband, Jack, of West Unity; two sons, Allan (Marcia) Stoner, of Waldport, Oregon, Dale (Marilyn) Stoner, of Stryker, Ohio and one daughter, Beryl (Eric) Bartkus, of Ada, Michigan; five grandchildren, Mary McCall Schenthal, Matthew Stoner, Eric (Laura) Stoner, Erin Bartkus and Amy Bartkus; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel Stoner and Scarlett Stoner. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions be made to Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, 6817 State Route 66 North, Defiance, Ohio 43512.
